If you want to make a tutorial or a software presentation, the best way to proceed is to record your screen. A good solution is WinCam. It lets you record your screen or part of it and it provides you with a lightweight editor, to add some final touches to your production. The software was created with ease of use in mind, so you won't encounter any kind of difficulties.

WinCam is free to try, without any significant functionality restrictions. It comes in a small package and it can be installed in under a minute. The software can be used on Windows 8 or later editions and it doesn't have any special requirements.

A preview of what you are about to record is displayed in the largest part of the user interface. You can get started right away, by clicking a Record button, in the upper right corner of the window. Additionally, you can make a few simple tweaks before recording. The software lets you record with or without system audio, microphone and webcam. Also, you can decide if you want to record and highlight the mouse cursor, animate clicks and add text or image watermarks.

By default, WinCam will record the entire screen, but you can set it to record a specific area or a window. The user interface will be minimized automatically when you start recording. The process can be stopped through a hotkey, but you can also bring up the interface before stopping.

Recorded footage can be played in the same place where the footage is usually displayed. A timeline can be found beneath the player, along with some other options. When your work is complete, you can save your video immediately, with a single click.

Tutorials, presentations or ho-to videos can be made on the fly when using WinCam.

Pros

The software' functionality is straightforward and its controls are well organized and easy to master. It lets you record the entire screen, part of it or a window. You can make various tweaks before recording.

Cons

WinCam doesn't offer too much in terms of video editing.
